Jacie's journey to the 4-H Chick Chain winner’s circle began in early spring with a lively flock of eleven chicks. Over the months, she meticulously raised her birds, guiding them from a carefully monitored brooder to their outdoor coop while spending hours working with them on a regular basis. Through close observation and daily handling, she evaluated her flock and narrowed it down to two promising show hens. Eventually, she selected her absolute best Barred Rock to be her primary competitor, pouring all of her attention into focused training, handling, and perfecting routines like the "walking the bird" demonstration featured in the video below.

All of that dedication culminated on September 19th at the massive five-county 4-H Chick Chain competition hosted in Chilton County. After months of preparation, Jacie's hard work paid off in a big way. She placed in every single category she entered, walking away with four distinct awards for her record-keeping, showmanship, and poultry quality. By bringing the finest bird to the table, she proudly earned First Place in Breed and the prestigious title of Chilton County Grand Champion.
